For referring doctors
I welcome the opportunity to discuss your referral needs. I employ an integrative treatment approach to guide individuals to improve their well-being. This approach includes a clinical assessment, flexible and collaboratively-developed treatment plan, and psychological interventions that aim at symptom reduction and the promotion of resourcefulness and resilience in the longer term. The empirically-supported psychological strategies used include CBT, Mindfulness-based therapy, ACT, Positive Psychology Techniques, EMDR, Exposure therapy, Schema Therapy, Self-Compassionate approaches & Breathing/Relaxation.
I have a background of Postgraduate research and Clinical training (PhD (Psychology) in age-related cognitive decline, and Masters Clinical Psychology program). My earlier career as a Community Pharmacist informs my strong focus on health and well-being and enables me to consider psychological difficulties and their treatment from a broader health perspective.
I am a member of the Clinical College of the Australian Psychological Society and eligible for the Clinical Psychology rebate through Medicare. I maintain my registration as a Pharmacist and membership to the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia.
I am available to discuss new referrals of adult clients for individual therapy, and can be contacted on 0405484770. Referrals can also be faxed to (03) 98528592 or emailed to [email protected]
Please note: I am not able to provide crisis support, and recommend individuals attend an alternative service if significant concerns of risk exist.
My therapeutic approach with patients involves:
- an initial clinical assessment (including key presenting problems, comorbidities, protective factors, and patient goals)
- a flexible treatment plan that allows for barriers to recovery
- active methods and strategies that aim at symptom reduction
- promoting autonomy, resourcefulness, and resilience in the longer term
My approach combines clinical experience with an understanding of the approaches that resonate with clients. It is also informed by my research and postgraduate clinical training (PhD (psychology) examining the neuropsychological, brain-structural and neurochemical changes accompanying age-related cognitive decline, and Masters clinical program). My commitment to education and learning is ongoing, and supports my use of current treatment interventions that are empirically-based.
I have a strong focus on health and well-being, as a result of my 20-year career as a community pharmacist. This enables me to consider psychological difficulties and their treatment from a broader health perspective. My understanding of drug treatments helps me to promote compliance and support the medical treatment of individuals referred to my practice.
I am a full member of the Clinical College of the Australian Psychological Society, and eligible to obtain the specialist (clinical) psychology rebate through Medicare for your patients. I am also a registered pharmacist and member of the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia.
I endeavour to provide prompt and thorough feedback and reports to my referring doctors, and remain available to discuss any queries. Please feel free to contact me to discuss any new referrals or current patient matters.
